Item works well for storing files but has added benefit for digital photos. Convenient to take an SD card out of a digital camera, place in this reader and view on a computer without needing to connect the camera to the computer. Also can use the SD card in a digital camera so more flexible than a typical USB flash drive. Fast file transfer on high speed USB ports, slow on the low speed USB ports (particularly with digital photos since the files are quite large and numerous).

All this for under $30 ???? WOW !
Besides using it for my pictures download, I use it as another thumb drive ! No special software, it's just as having another hard drive.
I hate the sofware that comes with the digital cameras to download the pictures to my computer, they put 'hooks' on everything and much of the files are propriatory and they even dare to make changes to your system so it will never be the same again ! forgetabboutit !
Buy it, you'll be glad you did !

Purchased this card reader to be able to read my new high speed 2gb SD memory card. If you're using the new SDHC memory cards, don't buy this card reader. It can't read the new SDHC cards properly. You'll need to purchase a SDHC reader. If you're just using regular SD memory cards, this reader is great!

It's so practical. However, it's shape is quite fat. I can't put another card into another usb port beside it.
