Better than what you pay for... Nov 03, 2010
By Shawny816 I read extensive reviews on nearly every iPad cover / case / folio I could find. So many, in fact, that I was deterred from even purchasing one for several months after I got my iPad. I made up my mind that I would go ahead and fork over the money for a really nice one once I found "the one". In the meantime I purchased a basic silicone stretch-on case with a separate zip up cover (like a Bible cover), which, for what it was, worked great.
After a while, however, I realized that case was trapping dirt, grime, crumbs, etc inside against the back of the iPad, so I hopped on Amazon once again to search for a nicer one. My convictions about spending a lot of money for a case were beginning to wane already when I came across this one. From my experience with the first one I bought, I knew I wanted more of a folio (so the case was all-in-one and I wouldn't have to hunt down a separate cover when I wanted to throw it in my bag or purse), and I knew I wanted multiple stand options.
This one caught my eye initially due to style, price, and color (this one does exist in other colors though, I believe). After reading over reviews and surveying a few other options, I locked in my purchase for one red folio case (and a new pack of screen protectors).
I have now been using the case for a couple of months. I use my iPad daily and take it with me often, usually by tossing it in my purse. The case fits very well, there is no slipping or movement of any kind. It is perfectly proportioned, no ports, buttons, speakers, switches, or the viewing screen are obscured. The different angle stands work great, though if you try to set the iPad on the stands while it is on your leg (or anything that doesn't span the entire case on the bottom) you have to really make sure to secure it firmly or it will slip off the chosen stands. Thus far, it has been very durable and protective, even after dropping it a couple of times (ok, so my 6 yr old son dropped it, but I will shoulder the blame as the dummy mom who asked her 6 yr old son to carry a $600 iPad...more than once). Also, after having been dropped, the folio case still looks great (much to my surprise). Seriously, one of the drops was on concrete and there is hardly a sign it didn't just come out of the package. More importantly, my iPad was completely unscathed.
The case is not leather...but, duh. I have no idea why anyone would think they were getting a genuine leather case for around $20. I know some of the descriptions claim leather, but, I mean, don't believe everything you read on the Internet. This case has a perfectly acceptable synthetic material that still looks pretty nice. I have no complaints about the material at all.
I was looking forward to using the strap to hold the iPad on the back of the head rests in my car (for viewing movies), but it turns out I have large head rests and the strap isn't quite big enough. Not a flaw of the product though. I also would like to have a case that provides stands for viewing vertically for things like "Words With Friends" that do not rotate, but I knew this case did not do that when I bought it. So, again, not a product flaw, just a personal preference.
So, I am extremely happy with my purchase and would recommend it to anyone. Happy shopping.

Practical, Good Lucking Case Jun 16, 2010

I'm still not sure this is a leather case, but I don't much care. It looks good, provides sufficient protection, doesn't obscure the screen, and the power and volume buttons are accessible. It's not heavy, but not especially light either; take note if this is a major concern. The case has rows of ridges so that it can be used as a stand when flipped over. The row that allows you to prop the iPad at the lowest angle isn't very stable, but the other positions work well. There's a strap to hang over a car seat or the like. I haven't used this, but it seems like a good idea. At the time I bought this, comparable cases were much more expensive, so it's a good value. Recommended.

I have two of them Dec 16, 2010

This case is good enough for us to order two (in different colors) for our two ipads in the family. My wife's case travels less frequently and is in very good shape. I carry my case with my laptop bag everywhere and it is starting to show some signs of getting tired after 6 months of use. That is not too bad I feel.
It protects the pad, which is what you want it for. the horizontal stand is useful because it either provides just enough lift to make typing easier or you can raise it for video watching. It does not stand well in the vertical position, so you have to prop it up.
The biggest strange thing is that when you grab the case and open it, you are always having the design cover outward and open it like a book and find the ipad is now on the left side instead of the right. So, it just seems they built it backwards. It is hard to explain, but it constantly throws people off. But, for the price, it is very good.
There is not a space for a pointer, business cards or any other thing. This is just a case. (However, I stash a cleaning cloth behind the ipad in the case, for those times I need to give the screen a wipe.

Nice but not durable Sep 02, 2010

I was initially very pleased with this case. Holds my iPad securely and allows me to stand it on a table. Unfortunately it fell apart after only two months of fairly light use. Now I have to spend more money for a replacement. Seems like a good value but is not one if you have to replace it every two months.

Good case and easel for iPad Sep 01, 2010

I was not happy with the Apple brand iPad cover--too flimsy and too expensive. I had seen the Acase at a meeting with a vendor, and liked the ability to have different angles to deal with possible glare or different lighting. When the short piece is folded under, it makes a good shallow angle for holding on your lap. It does NOT, however, stand on its own in portrait mode, but I generally use the iPad in landscape mode because I like the wider keyboard.
I wanted a bright color, since most accessories are black and it's easy to leave those behind. A good, hot color is much harder to lose. I would have liked the notches that support the iPad at various angles to be a bit deeper or to lock the position of the iPad in some way, but within a day or two, I got used to it.
You need to put the iPad in properly, so that the sliding switches are not blocked or engaged--I put those under the elastic bands, which solves that issue.
The bands themselves are very tight now, and a little hard to get around the corners of the iPad. I think this case would protect the corners of the iPad if dropped, but I'm not about to test it.
The imitation leather is nice looking, I don't have to worry about damaging it by putting a coffee cup or something on it. Wipes clean. My husband doesn't think the red is "masculine," but he agrees, it's easy to find. The green seems too girly to him, too. Maybe there will be more choices in the future.
There is an elastic band running the width of the back of the case. This is to hang the iPad on the headrest of a car seat, so the people (kids!) in back can watch a movie. You can also use this strap as a hand strap to hold the iPad, but only when the iPad is in the portrait mode.
What would improve this case? First, at least a flat pocket inside or out for a few busines cards or to hold the little microfiber cloth that comes with the iPad to clean the screen. If it were 9x12 inches, it could hold the iPad as well as some sheets of paper. I'd like it to have a loop to hold a pen or a touchscreen stylus. The elastic bands that hold the iPad in are hard to handle; I worry if they will stretch out over time, but at this price, can't complain. I would be easier to use corner straps that snap or Velcro into place. You still need a way or place to carry the charging cord; wish that were build in, because I frequently forget the cord. Finally, a way to stand it up in portrait mode for reading a newspaper would be great.
We do NOT charge the iPad while in the case, to avoid overheating. But the case does a great job of insulating my lap from the heat of the iPad.
Remember, you would also need some way to carry this about. It's certainly easy to slip into a small briefcase or a medium-sized purse or tote. BUT, you also have to carry the charger, the accessories (such as the adaptor for USB or your camera. I have learned over the years, Apples of any sort need/want a lot of toys. I have drawers full of those.
To sum up, great for price, pretty easy to use, meets the necessities--to protect the expensive electronics and give you different viewing angles--and is easy to wipe off. You can buy two or more of these for the minimal cover Apple offers.
