Comparison review. Apr 25, 2012
By Dick Johnson A few months ago I bought this "Acase" brand case for the Kindle Fire. I was given this Marware case to review as part of the Amazon Vine program: Marware Vibe Case Cover with Stand for Kindle Fire, Black
I will compare my thoughts on the two. (Note: there are many things that can go wrong with cases over time that I have not covered.)
Construction/materials: Acase - leather outer cover; micro fiber inside. Marware - "synthetic leather" outer (part of it anyway); inside is a combination of stuff My Winner: Acase just feels better.
Means of securing the Fire: Acase - the Fire slides into a leather "frame" with cutouts for speakers, power, jacks and the Fire is secured with a hook & eye strip - very securely held. Marware - "four point mounting system", there is a hard plastic frame with four prongs that project up. The two top ones clip into the speaker openings, the two bottom ones clip over the edge of Fire - but not too far over. My Winner: Acase is secure. Experimenting with the Marware, I could get the bottom to pop out with way too little effort. Acase is a clear winner here and the difference is significant in my decision as to which I want to trust a $200 pad to.
Angled stand for viewing: both use a similar method) Acase - will stay in place with 3-4 different angles. Marware - will stay in place with "unlimited" angles ("unlimited" given that the entire choice is just a few inches) My Winner: Marware, though that feature is one I rarely use.
Elastic strap to hold case open/close: Both use the same method and the only difference is in the elastic itself. My Winner: draw.
Weight: Marware is slightly lighter. Due to the weight of the Fire, the difference was not significant enough to matter. My Winner: draw.
Appearance: Acase is smooth and very nice looking. Marware has part of the front outer cover textured. My Winner: Not a biggie, but Acase. I like the smooth. The texture looks like plastic.
Using the Fire in the cover: (note: I use a stylus almost 100% of the time with the Fire) Acase - very comfortable to use. No problems. With the leather "frame" my fingers don't slide onto the screen. Marware - this was the deal-breaker. Without the frame, my fingers would slide onto the screen and I would select items/menus. I was also compensating for the means of securing the Fire into the case. The right hand side of the Fire slipped out of both the top and bottom clips with normal use (no attempt to see how easily this could happen - it just happened frequently over the 8 hours of use in reading and playing games.) My Winner: Acase by a wide margin.
Overall: Both seem to be well made. I am certain that the Fire will not pop out of the Acase. I cannot make that same statement for the Marware. That alone makes the Acase the one I will keep using.

Perfect Case Dec 07, 2011
By Lisa R This case is perfect. My Fire feels so secure and protected. Now, I am not as nervous when I let my daughter watch videos.( The streaming feature with Prime is AWESOME!!!) The stand feature is great. Just set it up on the table and my daughter can just sit and watch. No little hands necessary!! Now I just need my screen protector to arrive!!

A bit bulky and gets in the way, but still a good value. Dec 25, 2011
By Daniel I'll probably end up upgrading to a thinner, polycarbonate case eventually. For now, this is fine, and worth the low price. The case covers the entire bezel, so sometimes it proves to be a minor inconvenience when navigating my finger around the edge of the screen. Also, it's bulky, but it is leather, and my device feels nice and safe. Sometimes the flap becomes a minor nuisance when holding the device upright in my hand. The horizontal stand functionality works without problem. Overall not bad but not perfect.

A Perfect Fit Nov 23, 2011
By Loren Maloney My cover arrived today and I am in love with the color. My Kindle Fire snapped right in and the cover stands when I want it to, and lays flat when it is closed. It is exactly as advertised and I think it is perfect.
